Waiting for the new government

A new German parliament was elected in October. None of the parties achieved an absolute majority and this means that a coalition government must be formed. As always. What is new is that this time three parties are needed for a majority in the Bundestag. And coalition negotiations in Germany take more and more time. But there is not much time, Germany is waiting for the new government, large parts of Europe are waiting anxiously and impatiently for the new German government.

Each party in Germany is assigned a color. Red for the Social Democrats (SPD), black for the Christian Democrats (CDU), yellow for the Liberal Democrats (FDP), green for the Greens (Bündnis 90 die Grünen) and so on. Also for the possible coalitions there are names that have a relation to the colors of the parties. For example, Jamaica for a coalition of CDU, Greens and FDP derived from the flag of that country.

At the moment, coalition negotiations are taking place between the SPD, the Greens and the FDP. This combination has the code traffic light coalition according to the colors. The name may sound a bit wieldy, but in German it is just Ampel-Koalition. And if you see the many differences between the political agendas of these parties, then if everyone wants to push through their goals, there will be quite a bit of irritation. Not only among themselves.
